Upkeep, numbers and a fresh front door

New

  • Release notes now live under News, as the "Release notes" category, so one page tells you everything that is going on. The old address still works.
  • The home page shows more of the city: players online, the biggest score this week, the gangs active, the real front page of The Evening Racket, and ten questions answered.
  • City art behind the home page's title and its call to join, behind the sign-in and sign-up pages, and a skyline behind the masthead: by night, and a sepia one on the Morning Edition.
  • A richer Rules page, with an example for every rule, and an About page that tells the story of the city: from the gutter to the Don's chair.

Improved

  • Homes no longer earn money, and every home has an upkeep cost: a place to live, not an income.

Districts, burglars and a name of your own

New

  • Districts: each has its landmarks, and living there gives you a resident's perk.
  • Burglary: break into other players' homes, and buy cash-only defences for your own.
  • Daily life: happiness, drink and drugs with their ups and downs, and upgrades for your home.
  • Gangs rebuilt from the ground up: founding a family, ranks, the treasury and respect.
  • Your record: statistics for every crime, fight and more, per type, with charts for the whole city.
  • "Players online" in the masthead, and a "Find a player" search.
  • Your sign-in name is now separate from your game name, so nobody can guess half of your login.
  • Close your own account from Account; two-factor recovery options and an optional recovery question.
  • Pictures across the public website: the home page, news, pages, sign-up and sign-in.

Improved

  • Levelling slowed down: the climb to the top is meant to take a while.
  • Fights against players and against rivals are counted apart ("Players beaten", "Rivals beaten").
  • An equip picker to choose what you carry.

Fixed

  • The energy and nerve bars now match their numbers exactly.
  • Item rows on narrow screens; a way back to the game from the public pages; the draft note on the legal pages.

The city opens its gates

New

  • The game in five languages: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese (Brazil) and German. It picks yours from your browser or country, and you can change it at the top of any page.
  • The Evening Racket as a full broadsheet, with back issues, dozens of new wire stories and Staff Artists: players who draw the paper's pictures.
  • Two ways to fight a rival: a quick fight, or squaring up for a longer one.
  • The city's cast: named rivals and characters, ambushes on the road, gifts between players and the occasional stroke of luck.
  • Your inventory does more: every action on the item itself, selling to dealers, gifting to friends, and collectibles you can sell.
  • Two-factor sign-in for your account, and a "random character" button when you make your mobster.
  • The Rules and policies as tabs, a Releases page, and "Download my data" in your account.
  • Paid rewards and real perks for donators; bars that grow as you reach milestones.

Improved

  • Adults only: sign-up asks for your date of birth and country, and the game is for players aged 18 and over.
  • Swearing is allowed in what you write; a Hide strong language switch in Account hides it if you would rather not see it.
  • Numbers and money shown your way in every language; the logo sits in the masthead by night and by day.
  • A quick fight now costs 3% instead of 10%.

Fixed

  • The day and night switch and the language picker on the home page.
  • The home page's top bar stays on one line, with the weather on its own line.
